The project consisted of the demolition and redevelopment of the office buildings at 8 St James’s Square and 7 Apple Tree Yard, and their redevelopment to provide a new office building with lower ground floor, ground floor, five upper storeys, and fully screened roof plant. It also included the refurbishment and alteration of the grade II listed existing building.
The proposal for 8 St James’s Square was arranged with an entrance from the centre of the elevation to St James’s Square leading to a reception space that spans the full width of the elevation at ground floor level.
The entrance is approached across a glazed bridge spanning the retained lightwell area at lower ground floor.
